Exploring Trinidad Travel Options

...aboard the Port-of-Spain to San Fernando Water Taxi

Beach slippers for the readerIf you're exploring Trinidad travel options there's an exciting alternative to crowded roads. You can travel south on Trinidad's world-class Water Taxi service between Port-of-Spain and San Fernando, downtown to downtown in 1 hour for just $30TT return, that's less than $6US, just over ₤3GBP.

Water Taxi, Port-of-Spain to San Fernando Trinidad travel option Water Taxi Fast Facts

With 8 sailings a day each way, the first of which departs from San Fernando before 6:00 am every morning, and the last of which leaves Port-of-Spain shortly after 7:00 pm each evening, this unbeatably priced Water Taxi service outperforms other Trinidad travel choices for comfort, price and novelty.

The first few sailings each morning, heading north, can be crowded, as are the last few sailing each day heading south. Parking is limited, so it's a good idea to have someone drop you off and pick you up.

The Port-of-Spain to San Fernando Water Taxi seats 140 passengers comfortably, and there are plans afoot to expend the service. For current sailing information you can call the Water Taxi service at 1-868-624-3281.

This Water Taxi service opens up southern Trinidad like never before. You can now stay in a sleek Port-of-Spain hotel and commute in style to San Fernando, the Point Lisas Industrial Estate, and the industrial heartland.

For those staying in a San Fernando hotel, Port-of-Spain is just around the corner, for a little shopping, a night or two on the town, an important business meeting, conference, or just a round of golf.

The Water Taxi, one of the new Trinidad travel options Personal Adventure

We stepped aboard with the goal of traveling south to visit friends in San Fernando, and do a little shopping while we were there. On our journey the Gulf of Paria was a little rough, due to unusually high winds. The Gulf of Paria is relatively protected natural harbor and the seas are normally calm. But even with the choppy seas our journey south was a breeze.

Port-of-Spain's soaring skyline Romantic Ferry Ride

Trinidad can now claim it's own romantic harbor ferry. There's the Staten Island Ferry that has stared in many Hollywood movies, the Sidney Harbor Ferry and now Trinidad's own Water Taxi Service. I wonder, when it will feature in a major motion picture of its own? Anyway, our ride was excellent, the shopping was great, and the day renewing friendships in San Fernando was priceless. It was a wonderful day, crowned by a startlingly brilliant return to Port-of-Spain's soaring skyline after exploring another Trinidad travel option.
